Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of Thailand visited Symbiosis Centre for Distance learning, Pune on 19th March 2008. Dr. S. B. Mujumdar, President and Founder Director, Symbiosis, and Ms. Swati Mujumdar, Director, SCDL welcomed Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.

Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, is a great academician with a doctoral degree in Educational Development. Presently the Princess is a Director of the Department of History at Chulalongkorn University. The Princess is actively involved in community and social development activities by using education as for means for development. The Princess visit to SCDL was to comprehend the unique education / learning methodologies adopted by SCDL to propagate the philosophy of "learn while you earn." A high level delegation consisting of Thai delegates accompanied Her Royal Highness.

During the visit Her Royal Highness showed great interest in the functioning of the Student Care Services, the communication centre where the students forward their queries and the a prompt reply is given within one business day and the call centre where the student calls are answered by the call centre executives for immediate resolution of student query. HRH also witnessed the interaction through video conferencing between SCDL faculty and Office Head of Distance Learning Foundation, Thailand.

Ms. Swati Mujumdar made a presentation on Symbiosis Centre for Distance Learning. The Princess was highly impressed by new and innovative educational programs offered by SCDL. She showed great interest in the blended learning technology and the e-learning content as a supplementary learning methodology to improve the understanding of concepts through case studies and examples, thereby bridging the gap between a book and the classroom.
